Sharpened Richards and Conover No. 100. The etch is interesting and very strong. Part of the handle is painted. It look like a previous owner cleaned the back with a power tool so there are some swirly scratch marks on it. Warranted Superior eagle medallion and a skewed back.
About refurbished antique saws from Bench & Chisel
All of my refurbished antique saws go through the following process:
- Saw is disassembled
- Saw bolts are cleaned
- Handle is gently cleaned
- Rust is removed from the blade by hand with sandpaper
- Kinks or bends are hammered out, if necessary
- Teeth are jointed, reshaped, set, and sharpened
- Blade is polished then waxed
- Saw is reassembled
- Testcuts are made to ensure the saw performs as it should
- Wax is applied to be blade again to prevent rust and reduce friction when being used by its next owner.
This process results in a clean and usable saw that retains its antique look and feel.
