There are a variety of different saws that are used for different sawing tasks in woodworking. The essential saws for almost any woodworker that uses hand tools are a dovetail saw, carcase saw, tenon saw, hand or panel saw filed for rip cutting, hand or panel saw filed for crosscutting, flush cut saw, and a coping saw. There are lots of other types of saws that may come in handy depending on what you want to build.
