Sharpened Columbia Saw Works, New York hand saw. This one is patterned after a Disston No. 16. It's very clean. The etch is very faint and there is a chip on the upper horn.
About refurbished antique saws from Bench & Chisel
All of my refurbished antique saws go through the following process:
- Saw is disassembled
- Saw bolts are cleaned
- Handle is gently cleaned
- Rust is removed from the blade by hand with sandpaper
- Kinks or bends are hammered out, if necessary
- Teeth are jointed, reshaped, set, and sharpened
- Blade is polished then waxed
- Saw is reassembled
- Testcuts are made to ensure the saw performs as it should
- Wax is applied to be blade again to prevent rust and reduce friction when being used by its next owner.
This process results in a clean and usable saw that retains its antique look and feel.
