Sharpened Sheffield Saw Works combinatoin saw. It has a faint etch. The ruler etch that goes along the top of the blade is very worn. There is some pitting on the blade near the handle. It won't effect the use of the saw.
About refurbished antique saws from Bench & Chisel
All of my refurbished antique saws go through the following process:
- Saw is disassembled
- Saw bolts are cleaned
- Handle is gently cleaned
- Rust is removed from the blade by hand with sandpaper
- Kinks or bends are hammered out, if necessary
- Teeth are jointed, reshaped, set, and sharpened
- Blade is polished then waxed
- Saw is reassembled
- Testcuts are made to ensure the saw performs as it should
- Wax is applied to be blade again to prevent rust and reduce friction when being used by its next owner.
This process results in a clean and usable saw that retains its antique look and feel.
